ANDREA C PHOTOGRAPHY

The Ansco Pioneer 620 was made in Binghamton , NY, where I was born in 1971. It had a single speed shutter with a fixed focus lens, and only took eight pictures on a roll. It was placed in my hands at the age of seven, and from that moment, I instantly fell in love with the idea of taking pictures; my passion for photography was born.
My grandfather’s old camera’s inspired me to learn the mechanics of a film camera, the mysteries of a darkroom, and the ability to capture, and manipulate a vision with this medium. Famous photographers such as Ansel Adams, Michael Kenna, and Martin Munkacsi have inspired my style.
So, I’ve continued to shoot, and explore, and incorporate people, places and things that are important to me, or in some ways, important to everyone.
All of my work has been born through my travels, whether it’s been across the globe or right here in my backyard along the California coast.
In recent years, I’ve realized my love for, and emphasis on texture in shapes and form, saturation and movement within a shape or pattern, along with strong contrast, and abstraction.
Both film and digital technology has helped in achieving this idiom, along with the experimentation of mixed media.
